Have you recently started a treatment plan with Invisalign near Renton? If so, then you may have questions about living with your aligners. Here, you’ll find some helpful tips for getting used to your Invisalign aligners.
Wear your aligners as recommended.
For your treatment to be effective, your dentist will probably advise you to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day. While they may feel a bit strange when you first put them on, you should get used to the feeling of the aligners quite quickly, and the best way to ensure this is to start wearing them right away and for the amount of time advised by your dentist.
Keep up with good oral hygiene.
Regular flossing and brushing are essential for keeping your teeth and gums healthy. However, developing a strategy for maintaining good oral hygiene is particularly important while you’re wearing Invisalign. For the most part, you can continue to brush and floss your teeth as you always have but, to help prevent bad breath, tooth decay, and dirty or discolored aligners, always clean your teeth after you eat and before putting the aligners back in place.
Always be prepared while you’re out.
As you begin your Invisalign treatment, it’s essential to get in the habit of leaving your home prepared. This means bringing along floss, a toothbrush, and toothpaste so that you can clean your teeth after eating. Additionally, consider bringing along a container to hold your Invisalign aligners in case you need to remove them. If going out of town, pack an additional set of aligners as a backup in case your current one becomes damaged or lost.
Keep your aligners in good condition.
You will be wearing each of your aligners full-time over the course of your treatment, but you may feel less inclined to wear them as often as you should if they become dirty, smelly, stained, or scratched. To avoid this, clean and store your aligners as directed, and always remove them while eating or drinking anything other than water.
