New Patients for Dental Treatment

When you have your first appointment with Valley Dental Group, we do an overview of your oral health so that we can better assess what dental treatments you need. To make an appointment, call to schedule an hour and a half exam. The first half hour of the exam will be devoted to x-rays, so we can see your entire mouth and gums. These initial x-rays are useful for determining if there are any pressing issues. For our younger patients, we can see how new teeth will come in, and for all of our patients we can check for wisdom teeth, and more. If you have recently had x-rays completed, you can request that they are sent over from your old dentist’s office. Depending on what kind of x-ray and the date it was taken, we may recommend new x-rays during the first visit.

After x-rays, we move on to a full head, neck, and oral cancer screening exam. This is a standard routine and service we provide to all of our new patients during their first visit to our office.

Before your first visit, you will want to complete your health history form, which can be found here on this page. These forms can be signed and brought to our office on the day of your first visit. With these documents, you will also find important financial information, our practice policy, and our patient privacy policy. At Valley Dental Group, we always take our patient’s privacy very seriously and are committed to a discrete, professional environment where all our patients feel comfortable receiving our dental services.

Meeting the Dentist

Our new patient exam is done by either a hygienist or a combination of the doctor and dental assistant. At the end of the exam, the doctor will discuss all plans and options moving forward so our patients are ensured they are getting the dentistry services they need. If there is time after the x-ray and exam and your oral health is suitable, a cleaning will be done. If a more involved procedure such as a deep cleaning is needed, it will be scheduled for a future date. After meeting with the doctor, our new patients come back to the front desk to determine insurance options and plans for payment. Future appointments are always scheduled during this time.
